Seal being set on the heart after missing three Fridays
Hadith 217
اُردوEn
أَخْبَرَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ مَنْ، سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((مَنْ تَرَكَ الْجُمُعَةَ ثَلَاثًا مِنْ غَيْرِ عُذْرٍ يَكُونَ لَهُ , طُبِعَ عَلَى قَلْبِهِ)).
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever leaves three Jumu'ahs without a (legitimate) excuse, a seal is set upon his heart."

From the aforementioned hadith, the importance of the Friday prayer (Salat al-Jumu‘ah) is established, as abandoning it causes a seal to be set upon the hearts. This is a great misfortune, as a person becomes deprived of the ability to do good and righteousness. In the Noble Qur’an, Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, has said regarding the disbelievers: ﴿خَتَمَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰی قُلُوْبِهِمْ وَ عَلٰی سَمْعِهِمْ﴾ ().... “Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing.”
In another hadith in Sahih Muslim, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “People must cease abandoning the Friday prayer, or else Allah will set a seal upon their hearts, then they will surely be among the heedless.”
Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, has commanded the believers regarding this matter, saying: ﴿یٰٓاََیُّهَا الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا اِِذَا نُوْدِیَ لِلصَّلٰوةِ مِنْ یَّوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ فَاسْعَوْا اِِلٰی ذِکْرِ اللّٰهِ وَذَرُوا الْبَیْعَ﴾ () .... “O you who have believed! When the call to prayer is made on the day of Friday, then hasten to the remembrance of Allah and leave off trade.”
