أَخْبَرَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، مَوْلَى أُمِّ بُرْثُنٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: كَتَبَ اللَّهُ الْجُمُعَةَ عَلَى مَنْ قَبْلَنَا فَهَدَانَا اللَّهُ فَاخْتَلَفُوا فِيهِ، فَالنَّاسُ لَنَا فِيهِ تَبَعٌ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: "Allah made Friday obligatory upon those before us, Allah guided us to it and they differed regarding it, so the people are behind us in this: the Jews (Saturday) and the Christians (Sunday)."

Among the seven days of the week, Friday is the most virtuous. And before the Ummah of Muhammad, this day was presented to the previous communities, but they did not recognize its greatness. And Allah Dhul-Jalal granted the Ummah of Muhammad the ability to recognize the day of Friday. Because on this day, great events have occurred and will occur. As our master Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu said that the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "The best of the days upon which the sun rises is Friday: on it Adam alayhis salam was created, on it he was admitted to Paradise, on it he was expelled from there, and the Hour will not be established except on this day." (Muslim, Book of Jumu'ah, Chapter: The Virtue of the Day of Jumu'ah)
Therefore, Muslims should give importance to this day. Especially, for the Friday prayer (Salat al-Jumu'ah), one should prepare with full attention and be present in the mosque on time.
