Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Garlic was not found in our area, rather there was onion and gindana (a type of vegetable), so we were prohibited from it.

Benefits: From the mentioned hadith, it is understood that one should not go to the mosque after eating foul-smelling vegetables. Because of this, the angels perceive the odor. Anything that causes bad breath should not be consumed before going to the mosque. The smell from cigarettes and hookah is even worse than that from eating onions or garlic.
