Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace be upon him) said: "The first thing for which a servant will be called to account is his prayer. If he has performed it completely, it is good; otherwise, Allah Almighty will say: Look, does My servant have any voluntary prayers? If his voluntary prayers are found, He will say: Complete his obligatory prayers with them."

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits: From the aforementioned hadith, it is understood that on the Day of Resurrection, the very first reckoning will be regarding prayer (salah). A Persian poet writes: On the Day of Judgment, when souls will be in agony, The very first question will be about prayer. In Sahih Muslim, it is stated that the first reckoning will be regarding blood (i.e., murder). (: Muslim: 1678) The scholars have written: Among the rights of Allah, the first reckoning will be about prayer, and among the rights of the servants, it will be about murder. (Subul al-Salam: 4/8) From the aforementioned hadith, the importance of prayer can be gauged. And from the above hadith, the significance and virtue of voluntary (nafl) prayers are also established. It is understood that voluntary prayers should not be abandoned, especially the emphasized Sunnah (sunnah mu’akkadah) which are performed before or after the obligatory (fard) prayers. The Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) emphasized their observance while residing (not traveling). In fact, those fortunate people who perform the voluntary and Sunnah prayers will be granted the companionship of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). As narrated from Sayyiduna Rabi‘ah ibn Ka‘b al-Aslami (radi Allahu anhu) that the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said to me: “Ask (for whatever you wish).” I said: I seek your companionship in Paradise. He (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “Anything else besides that?” I said: That is all I desire. He (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: ((FA-A‘INNĪ ‘ALĀ NAFSIKA BIKATHRATI AS-SUJŪD)) (Muslim, Kitab al-Salat, No: 489. Sunan Abi Dawud, No: 1320) ... “Help me for your own sake by increasing your prostrations (i.e., by performing many voluntary prayers).”
