Benefits:
From the aforementioned hadith, the virtue of Surah al-Fatihah is established: that the person who recites this surah in prayer, Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, is merciful to and pleased with this fortunate one, such that Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, responds to each of his phrases.
In the opening words of this mentioned hadith qudsi, Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, has said that I have divided the prayer between Myself and My servant into two halves. However, regarding the bowing (ruku‘), prostration (sujud), sitting for rest (jalsah istirahah), and standing after bowing (qiyam), it is not stated that I have divided these between Myself and My servant. Similarly, regarding the opening takbir (takbir tahrimah), the opening supplication (thana), the glorifications (tasbihat), the supplications of standing (qiyam), etc., it is not stated that I respond; it is only regarding Surah al-Fatihah that it is said: I respond. For this reason, some exegetes have named Surah al-Fatihah “Surah al-Munajat” (the Surah of Intimate Discourse).
((Surah al-Munajat, because the servant converses with his Lord in it.)) (Al-Itqan fi ‘Ulum al-Qur’an: 1/53)
It is thus understood that it is extremely necessary for every worshipper to recite Surah al-Fatihah in all types of prayers.
