It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that he saw a man leaving the mosque after the call to prayer had been given. He said: He has disobeyed Abul Qasim (ﷺ). The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) commanded us: "When the muezzin has given the call to prayer, do not leave (the mosque) until you have performed the prayer."

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits: From the aforementioned hadith, it is understood that after hearing the call to prayer (adhan), it is not permissible to leave the mosque, but there is allowance if there is a legitimate (shar‘i) excuse. As narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu, he stated that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Whoever hears the call to prayer in this mosque of mine and leaves without necessity and does not return is a hypocrite.” (Majma‘ al-Zawa’id: 2/5. Its chain is authentic)
Imam al-Darimi rahimahullah, in his Sunan, narrates an incident that a man came to bid farewell to Sa‘id ibn al-Musayyib rahimahullah on the occasion of his departure for Hajj or ‘Umrah. He said to him: Do not leave without performing the prayer, for indeed the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “After the adhan, no one leaves the mosque except a hypocrite. Yes, (the one who leaves is not a hypocrite) who goes out for some need with the intention of returning.” He replied: Indeed, my companions are in Harrah. So he left. (The narrator states that) Sa‘id continued to mention this matter with great concern until he was informed that the man had fallen from his mount and his thigh had broken.
