Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We halted during a journey with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for the purpose of resting, and we slept until we felt the heat of the sun, then we woke up. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Each of you should move his mount from this place, for in this place you encountered the issue which you know about." The narrator states: So we moved away from there. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for water and performed ablution, then he and his noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) prayed two rak‘ahs. Then the iqamah was given, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in the Fajr prayer after the sun had risen.

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits: It is narrated in Sahih Muslim from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu that when the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was returning from the Battle of Khaybar, he traveled throughout the night until, when sleep began to overcome them, he stopped to rest and said to Bilal radi Allahu anhu: “Stand guard for us tonight.” The narrator states that then Bilal radi Allahu anhu’s eyes also became heavy upon him (i.e., he fell asleep), and he was leaning against his camel.
Thus, neither the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, nor Bilal, nor any other companion woke up until the sun’s heat struck them. The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was the first to awaken; he became anxious and said: “O Bilal!” He replied: “O Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam! The same thing overtook me that overtook you. May my parents be sacrificed for you.” Then they set out from there (and after traveling a little distance, they stopped), whereupon the Prophet performed ablution (wudu) and ordered Bilal to give the iqamah for prayer, and he led them in the Fajr prayer. (Muslim, Kitab al-Masajid, No. 680)
It is understood from this that if a person remains asleep at the time of prayer, then whenever he wakes up, he should perform the prayer at that time; there is no sin in the delay, as long as this does not become habitual.
In another hadith, it is mentioned that the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was asked: If someone forgets to pray or sleeps through the prayer (what should he do)? He sallallahu alayhi wa sallam replied: “He should perform the prayer as soon as he remembers.” (Muslim, Kitab al-Masajid, No. 684)
