Hadith 144

Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: "Whoever leaves his house in a state of ablution heading towards the mosque in order to perform the obligatory duties of Allah, then with every step he takes, one of his sins is erased and with the other his rank is elevated."

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits:
From the aforementioned hadith, the virtue of those who walk to the mosque with ablution (wudu) is established: through this action, sins are erased and ranks are elevated. And from another authentic hadith, it is proven that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "Whoever goes to the mosque where the congregation is held, one step erases a sin and (with) the other step a good deed is written." ((ذَاهِبًا وَرَاجِعًا)) (Sahih Ibn Hibban, no. 2039; Sahih Targhib wa Tarhib: 1/241)... "Both when going and when returning."

In another hadith, Imam Muslim rahimahullah narrated from Sayyiduna Ubayy ibn Ka'b radi Allahu anhu regarding an Ansari companion who, despite living far from the Prophet's Mosque, would perform the congregational prayers with the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. He stated that this companion said to the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam: I do not wish for my house to be next to the mosque. Indeed, I desire that my going to the mosque and my returning home be recorded (as reward). The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam replied: ((قَدْ جَمَعَ اللّٰهُ لَكَ ذٰلِكَ کُلَّهٗ۔)) (Muslim, Kitab al-Masajid, Bab Fadl Kathrat al-Khuta ila al-Masajid)... "Indeed, Allah has gathered all of that for you."
