Hadith 143

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would remain silent for a brief moment when saying Allahu Akbar (the takbir). The narrator said, I asked Sufyan: At the time of the opening takbir of the prayer? He replied: Yes.

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits:
➊ From the mentioned hadith, it is established that the noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum) were eager to learn the religion, as they would themselves ask the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) questions. It is also understood that the above-mentioned supplication is Sunnah to recite after the opening takbir (takbir tahrimah), and there are other supplications as well that are authentically reported from the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).

➋ ... As narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (radi Allahu anhu), he said: When the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) would begin the prayer, he would recite this supplication: ((Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika wa tabaarakasmuka wa ta'ala jadduka wa la ilaha ghayruka)) (Sunan Abi Dawud, no. 775)

➌ ... It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali ibn Abi Talib (radi Allahu anhu) that when the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) would stand for prayer, he would (first) recite this supplication: ((Inni wajjahtu wajhiya lilladhi fataras-samawati wal-ard hanifan wa ma ana minal-mushrikin.

And there are many other supplications narrated as well. Any of these supplications may be recited.
