Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace be upon him) said: "When any of you is in the state of prayer, he should neither spit in front of him nor to his right side, but under his left foot. If he cannot do so, and he did like this, he spat in his garment, then rubbed it."
