Hadith 1819
قَالَ الْأَصَمُّ: سَمِعْتُ الرَّبِيعَ يَقُولُ: مَاتَ الشَّافِعِيُّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ سَنَةَ أَرْبَعٍ وَمِائَتَيْنِ فِي آخِرِ يَوْمٍ مِنْ رَجَبٍ، وَسُئِلَ عَنْ سِنِّهِ، فَقَالَ: نَيِّفٌ وَخَمْسُونَ سَنَةً. أَخْرَجَهُ مِنْ كِتَابِ الصَّيْدِ وَالذَّبَائِحِ.
Asam said: I heard from Rabee’, he said: Imam Shafi’i, may Allah have mercy on him, passed away on the last day of Rajab in the year 204 Hijri, and when he was asked about his age, he said: “Fifty years and a little more.”
