Hadith 1736
أَخْبَرَنَا الشَّافِعِيُّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي الصَّعْبُ بْنُ جَثَّامَةَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ عَنْ أَهْلِ الدَّارِ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ يَبِيتُونَ فَيُصَابُ مِنْ نِسَائِهِمْ وَذَرَارِيهِمْ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "هُمْ مِنْهُمْ" وَزَادَ عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ: هُمْ مِنْ آبَائِهِمْ.
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that Sa'b bin Jaththamah (may Allah be pleased with him) informed me that he heard the Prophet ﷺ being asked about the ruling concerning the families of the polytheists when a night raid is carried out against them and small children and women are also affected by it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied: "They are from among them." Amr bin Dinar narrated from Zuhri with these additional words: "They are from among their fathers." (Meaning, they belong to the same lineage.)
Hadith 1737
أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، يَعْنِي: ابْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنِ الصَّعْبِ بْنِ جَثَّامَةَ اللَّيْثِيِّ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ عَنْ أَهْلِ الدَّارِ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ يَبِيتُونَ فَيُصَابُ مِنْ نِسَائِهِمْ وَأَبْنَائِهِمْ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "هُمْ مِنْهُمْ" ، وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ سُفْيَانُ فِي الْحَدِيثِ: "هُمْ مِنْ آبَائِهِمْ" . أَخْرَجَ الْأَوَّلَ مِنْ كِتَابِ الرِّسَالَةِ وَالثَّانِيَ مِنْ كِتَابِ قِتَالِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ.
It is narrated from Sa'b bin Jaththamah Al-Laithi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) was asked about the ruling concerning the families of the polytheists when a night raid is carried out against them, and small children and women are also affected by it. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "They are from among them." Sometimes Sufyan (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated the words in the hadith as: "They are from among their fathers."
