Hadith 1614
Narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "O Aisha! Do you know that regarding the matter about which I sought guidance, Allah has given me guidance about it." For a considerable period, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was in such a state that he would think he had intercourse with one of his wives, although he had not. Two men (angels) came to me, one stood at my feet and the other at my head. The one standing at my feet said to the one at my head: "What is the matter with this man?" The other replied: "He has been bewitched." He asked: "Who has bewitched him?" He replied: "Labeed bin A'sam (the Jew)." He then asked: "With what has he bewitched him?" He said: "With a comb and the hair that falls from the head with the comb, inside the husk of a date-palm, which is placed in the well of Dharwan." The narrator said: Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) brought it out and said: "This is what was shown to me in my dream, as if its date-palm trees were like the heads of devils, and its water was like the infusion of henna." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ordered it to be removed, and it was removed. Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah! Why not (i.e., why did you not make the counter-magic public)?" He (ﷺ) said: "Now Allah has cured me, and I dislike to spread evil among the people because of it." He said: Labeed bin A'sam was a man from Banu Zuraiq, who were allies of the Jews.
