It is narrated from Hanzalah bin Qais that he asked Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) about leasing land. He replied that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade leasing land. Then he asked, "Is it forbidden if it is for gold and silver?" He replied, "If it is for gold and silver, then there is no harm in it."

It is narrated from Sa'id bin al-Musayyib, may Allah have mercy on him, that he was asked about leasing land in exchange for gold and silver, so he said: "There is no harm in it."

It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when someone would lease his land, he would stipulate the condition that he (the lessee) would not put manure (in the land), and this was before Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) stopped leasing out his land.
