It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: "It was revealed in the Qur'an that ten times suckling makes (marriage) unlawful, then it was abrogated and five times suckling became the cause of prohibition, and only those who had completed five sucklings would come to Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her)."

It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: "It was revealed in the Qur'an that ten times suckling establishes prohibition (of marriage), then this was abrogated and (the command came) that five times suckling establishes prohibition. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, this was among the verses that were recited in the Qur'an."

It is narrated from Safiyyah bint Abi Ubaid that she informed Nafi‘ that Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) sent ‘Asim bin ‘Abdullah bin Sa‘d to her sister Fatimah bint ‘Umar to be breastfed ten times so that he could later come to her, and at that time he was a small nursing child. So Fatimah did so, and afterwards he used to come and go to her.
