It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade Shighar marriage, and Shighar is that a man marries his daughter to another on the condition that he will marry his daughter to him, and there will be no dowry between them.

It is narrated from Ibn Umar and Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Prophet ﷺ forbade shighar. Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) added these words in his narration: Shighar is when a man marries off his daughter to another man on the condition that the latter marries his own daughter to him.
