Abdur Rahman bin Qasim narrates from his father that regarding the command of Allah Almighty: "There is no sin upon you if you hint at a proposal of marriage to women" (Al-Baqarah: 235), he says: Its meaning is that a man may say to a woman during her waiting period after her husband's death: "You are honorable to me, I am inclined towards you, Allah Almighty will bring goodness or sustenance to you," or he may say something similar to this.

Hadith Takhrijصحيح اخرجه البيهقى 178/7 - وابن ابى شيبة (16835) ، (16844) - ومالك في الموطا، النكاح، باب ماجاء في الخطبة۔
It is narrated from Fatimah bint Qais (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to her: "When your waiting period ('iddah) is over, inform me." She says: When my 'iddah was over, I informed the Prophet (ﷺ) that Muawiyah and Abu Jahm (may Allah be pleased with them both) had proposed marriage to me. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Muawiyah is a poor man, he has no wealth, and as for Abu Jahm, he never puts his stick down from his shoulder (i.e., he beats women). Marry Usamah bin Zaid." So I married him, and Allah placed so much goodness and blessing in that marriage that other women began to envy me.

Hadith Takhrijأخرجه مسلم، الطلاق، باب المطلقة البائن لا نفقة لها (1480)۔
Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) bint Qais narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her, in the case of divorce from her husband during her waiting period: "When your waiting period is complete, inform me." She says: When my waiting period was complete, I informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that Muawiyah and Abu Jahm (may Allah be pleased with them both) had sent me proposals of marriage. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Muawiyah is a poor man, he has no wealth, and as for Abu Jahm, he does not put his stick down from his shoulder (i.e., he beats women), so marry Usamah." She says: I disliked this suggestion, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said again: "Marry Usamah (may Allah be pleased with him)." So I married him, and Allah put so much goodness in it that women began to envy me.
