It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Whoever frees his share in a jointly owned slave, and he has enough wealth equal to the value of the slave, then the slave's value should be assessed justly. All the partners should be given the price of their shares (from his wealth), and the slave should be freed on his behalf. Otherwise, whatever portion of the slave has been freed, is freed."

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If a slave is jointly owned between two partners, and one of them frees his share, if the one who frees is wealthy, then the highest or fair price will be set, which is neither less nor more, and then the share will be taken from him with wealth."
