It is narrated from Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with them) who said: My mother came to me during the time of the Quraysh and she was not a Muslim. I asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) whether I should maintain ties of kinship with her. He (ﷺ) said: "Yes."

It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) saw a (silk) cloak of Sira at the door of the mosque and said: O Messenger of Allah! If you would buy this, you could wear it on Fridays and when delegations come to you. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Only he who has no share in the Hereafter can wear this." Then several cloaks of the same kind came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he gave one of those cloaks to Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! You have given this to me even though you previously said what you said about the cloak of Atarid? (i.e., you forbade wearing it). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I did not give it to you so that you would wear it." So Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) sent it to his polytheist brother in Mecca for him to wear.
