Hadith 1041
كِتَابُ النُّذُورِ بَابٌ: وَفَاءُ مَنْ نَذَرَ نَذْرًا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ 1041 - أَخْبَرَنَا الشَّافِعِيُّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ السَّخْتِيَانِيِّ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ: أَنَّ عُمَرَ نَذَرَ أَنْ يَعْتَكِفَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَعْتَكِفَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ. أَخْرَجَهُ مِنْ كِتَابِ الْعِيدَيْنِ.
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) made a vow to perform i'tikaf (seclusion) in the Mosque al-Haram during the period of ignorance. He asked the Prophet ﷺ, so the Prophet ﷺ instructed him to fulfill his i'tikaf in Islam.
