Hadith 979
أَخْبَرَنَا الشَّافِعِيُّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَعَى فِي عُمَرِهِ كُلِّهِنَّ الْأَرْبَعِ بِالْبَيْتِ وَبِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُمْ رَدُّوهُ فِي الْأُولَى وَالرَّابِعَةِ مِنَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ.
It is narrated from Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performed the Tawaf of the House of Allah and the Sa'i between Safa and Marwah in all four of his Umrahs, except that in the first and fourth Umrah, they turned him back from Hudaybiyyah.
Hadith 980
أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، قَالَ: سَعَى أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فِي حَجِّهِ عَامَ حَجَّ إِذْ بَعَثَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ وَعُثْمَانُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَالْخُلَفَاءُ هَلُمَّ جَرًّا يَسْعَوْنَ كَذَلِكَ.
It is narrated from Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: "When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) for Hajj, he performed Sa'i, then during his own caliphate Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) also did so, then Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), then Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), and the caliphs who came after them—all the caliphs after them used to perform Sa'i in the same manner."
Hadith 981
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُؤَمَّلٍ الْعَائِذِيُّ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مُحَيْصِنٍ، [ ص: 264 ] عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ، قَالَتْ: أَخْبَرَتْنِي بِنْتُ أَبِي تَجْرَاةَ، أَحَدُ نِسَاءِ بَنِي عَبْدِ الدَّارِ، قَالَتْ: دَخَلْتُ مَعَ نِسْوَةٍ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ دَارَ أَبِي آلِ حُسَيْنٍ نَنْظُرُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَسْعَى بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ، فَرَأَيْتُهُ يَسْعَى، وَإِنَّ مِئْزَرَهُ لَيَدُورُ مِنْ شِدَّةِ السَّعْيِ حَتَّى لَأَقُولُ: إِنِّي لَأَرَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ، وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: اسْعَوْا، فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ كَتَبَ عَلَيْكُمُ السَّعْيَ. قَرَأَ الرَّبِيعُ: حَتَّى إِنِّي لَأَقُولُ. أَخْرَجَ الْحَدِيثَيْنِ مِنْ كِتَابِ الْمَنَاسِكِ، وَالثَّالِثَ مِنْ كِتَابِ مُخْتَصَرِ الْحَجِّ الْكَبِيرِ.
Safiyyah bint Shaybah narrates: "A woman from Banu Abdud-Dar, the daughter of Abi Tijarah, told me that I came with the women of Quraysh to the house of Abi Al-Husayn, and we were watching the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performing Sa'i between Safa and Marwah. I saw him performing Sa'i, and his lower garment was twisting due to the intensity of the Sa'i, to the extent that I say I saw his knees. And I heard him saying: 'Perform Sa'i! Indeed, Allah has made Sa'i obligatory upon you.'"
