It is narrated from Zaid bin Jubair that he said: "I was with Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) when he was asked about this, so he said: This is the Hajj of Islam; he should fulfill his vow." That is, the one upon whom Hajj is obligatory and he has made a vow to perform Hajj.

It is narrated from Ata that he said: The Prophet ﷺ heard a man saying, "I am present on behalf of so-and-so." So the Prophet ﷺ said to him: "If you have performed Hajj before, then recite the Talbiyah on his behalf; if not, then first perform Hajj for yourself, then fulfill it on his behalf."

It is narrated from Ata who reports that the Prophet ﷺ heard a man saying: "I am present on behalf of so-and-so." So the Prophet ﷺ said: "If you have performed Hajj before, then say Labbaik on his behalf, and if not, then first perform Hajj for yourself."

It is narrated from Abu Qilabah: Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) heard a man saying, "I am present on behalf of Shubrumah." So Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "You are ruined! What is this Shubrumah?" The man explained his relationship to Shubrumah. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) asked, "Have you performed Hajj for yourself first?" He said, "No." Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "First perform Hajj for yourself, then perform Hajj on behalf of Shubrumah."

It is narrated from Abu Qilabah that Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) heard a man saying: "I am present on behalf of Shubrumah." So Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Woe to you! Who is this Shubrumah?" One of Ayyub and Khalid al-Hadha said that the man replied: "He is my brother." The other said that he mentioned his relationship to Shubrumah. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Have you performed Hajj on your own behalf?" He replied: "No." Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Perform Hajj on your own behalf first, then (afterwards) perform Hajj on behalf of Shubrumah."
