Hadith 902
أَخْبَرَنَا الشَّافِعِيُّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ حَنْطَبٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: "لَحْمُ الصَّيْدِ لَكُمْ فِي الْإِحْرَامِ حَلَالٌ مَا لَمْ تَصِيدُوهُ أَوْ يُصَدْ لَكُمْ" .
It is narrated from Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "The meat of game is lawful for you in the state of Ihram as long as you do not hunt it yourselves or it is not hunted for you."
Hadith 903
أَخْبَرَنَا مَنْ، سَمِعَ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنَ بِلَالٍ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
It is also narrated from the Prophet ﷺ through another chain in this manner.
Hadith 904
هَكَذَا أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَكَذَا
From another chain of narration, it is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (ﷺ) in this manner.
Hadith 905
قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ، وَابْنُ أَبِي يَحْيَى أَحْفَظُ مِنَ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيِّ وَسُلَيْمَانُ مِنَ ابْنِ أَبِي يَحْيَى.
Imam Shafi’i, may Allah have mercy on him, said that Ibn Abi Yahya has better memorization than Darawardi and Sulayman ibn Abi Yahya.
Hadith 906
أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنِ الصَّعْبِ بْنِ جَثَّامَةَ: أَنَّهُ أَهْدَى لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِمَارًا وَحْشِيًّا وَهُوَ بِالْأَبْوَاءِ أَوْ بِوَدَّانَ فَرَدَّهُ عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمَّا رَأَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا فِي وَجْهِي قَالَ: "إِنَّا لَمْ نَرُدَّهُ عَلَيْكَ إِلَّا أَنَّا حُرُمٌ" .
It is narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), from Sa'b bin Jaththamah (may Allah be pleased with him), that when they were at Abwa or Waddan, he presented a wild donkey as a gift to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), but the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) returned it. Then, when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saw displeasure on his face, he said: "If we were not in the state of Ihram, we would not have returned it to you."
Hadith 907
أَخْبَرَنَا مُسْلِمٌ، وَسَعِيدُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، وَأَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكٌ، عَنْ أَبِي النَّضْرِ مَوْلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ مَوْلَى أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ: أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ بِبَعْضِ طَرِيقِ مَكَّةَ، تَخَلَّفَ مَعَ أَصْحَابٍ لَهُ مُحْرِمِينَ، وَهُوَ غَيْرُ مُحْرِمٍ، فَرَأَى حِمَارًا وَحْشِيًّا، فَاسْتَوَى عَلَى فَرَسِهِ، فَسَأَلَ أَصْحَابَهُ أَنْ يُنَاوِلُوهُ سَوْطَهُ فَأَبَوْا، فَسَأَلَهُمْ رُمْحَهُ فَأَبَوْا، فَأَخَذَ رُمْحَهُ، فَشَدَّ عَلَى الْحِمَارِ فَقَتَلَهُ، فَأَكَلَ مِنْهُ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبَى بَعْضُهُمْ، فَلَمَّا أَدْرَكُوا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَأَلُوهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ: "إِنَّمَا هِيَ طُعْمَةٌ أَطْعَمَكُمُوهَا اللَّهُ تَعَالَى" .
It is narrated from Abu Qatadah Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was with the Prophet ﷺ on the way to Makkah. He, along with some of his companions who were in the state of Ihram, stayed behind, while he himself (Abu Qatadah, may Allah be pleased with him) was not in Ihram. He saw a wild donkey and mounted his horse. Then he said to his companions (who were in Ihram), "Hand me the whip," but they refused. Then he asked for his spear, but they also refused to give it. Finally, he took his own spear, attacked the donkey, and killed it. Some of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ ate its meat, while others refused (because of being in Ihram). When they reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, they asked him about this issue. He ﷺ said: "This was a meal which Allah provided for you."
Hadith 908
أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ فِي الْحِمَارِ الْوَحْشِيِّ مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ أَبِي النَّضْرِ.
The incident of the wild donkey narrated by Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) through the authority of Ata bin Yasar (may Allah have mercy on him) is also reported similar to the hadith of Abu al-Nadr.
Hadith 909
أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ بِالْعَرْجِ فِي يَوْمٍ صَائِفٍ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ، وَقَدْ غَطَّى وَجْهَهُ بِقَطِيفَةٍ أُرْجُوَانٍ ثُمَّ أُتِيَ بِلَحْمِ صَيْدٍ، فَقَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ: كُلُوا، قَالُوا: أَلَا تَأْكُلُ أَنْتَ؟ قَالَ: إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَهَيْئَتِكُمْ، إِنَّمَا صِيدَ مِنْ أَجْلِي. أَخْرَجَ السَّبْعَةَ الْأَحَادِيثَ مِنَ الْجُزْءِ الثَّانِي مِنَ اخْتِلَافِ الْحَدِيثِ، وَالثَّامِنَ مِنْ كِتَابِ اخْتِلَافِ مَالِكٍ وَالشَّافِعِيِّ.
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Amir bin Rabi'ah who said: I saw Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) at the place of 'Arj during the hot days, in the state of Ihram, and he had covered his face with a red sheet. Then some game meat was brought to him, so he said to his companions, "You eat!" They asked, "Will you not eat?" Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "I am not like you, because this game was hunted for me."
