Hadith 838
أَخْبَرَنَا الشَّافِعِيُّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ: أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا يَلْبَسُ الْمُحْرِمُ مِنَ الثِّيَابِ؟ فَقَالَ: رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "لَا يَلْبَسُ الْمُحْرِمُ الْقَمِيصَ وَلَا السَّرَاوِيلَاتِ وَلَا الْعَمَائِمَ وَلَا الْبَرَانِسَ، وَلَا الْخِفَافَ إِلَّا أَحَدٌ لَا يَجِدُ نَعْلَيْنِ فَلْيَلْبَسِ الْخُفَّيْنِ وَيَقْطَعْهُمَا أَسْفَلَ مِنَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ" .
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man asked the Prophet (ﷺ): "What clothes should a person in Ihram wear?" The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) replied: "A person in Ihram should not wear a shirt, trousers, turbans, caps, or socks. And if someone does not have shoes, he should cut the socks below the ankles and wear them."
Hadith 839
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ: أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَأَلَهُ: مَا يَلْبَسُ الْمُحْرِمُ مِنَ الثِّيَابِ؟ فَقَالَ لَهُ: إِنَّهُ لَا يَلْبَسُ الْقَمِيصَ وَلَا الْعِمَامَةَ وَلَا الْبَرَانِسَ وَلَا السَّرَاوِيلَ، وَلَا الْخُفَّيْنِ إِلَّا لِمَنْ لَا يَجِدُ نَعْلَيْنِ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ نَعْلَيْنِ فَلْيَلْبَسْ خُفَّيْنِ، وَلْيَقْطَعْهُمَا حَتَّى يَكُونَا أَسْفَلَ مِنَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ.
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and asked him: "What clothes should a Muhrim (one in the state of Ihram) wear?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said to him: "A Muhrim should not wear a shirt, nor a turban, nor a cap, nor trousers, nor socks, but whoever does not have sandals may wear socks after cutting them below the ankles."
Hadith 840
أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى أَنْ يَلْبَسَ الْمُحْرِمُ ثَوْبًا مَصْبُوغًا بِزَعْفَرَانٍ أَوْ وَرَسٍ قَالَ: "فَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ نَعْلَيْنِ [ ص: 206 ] فَلْيَلْبَسِ الْخُفَّيْنِ وَلْيَقْطَعْهُمَا أَسْفَلَ مِنَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ" .
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade a Muhrim from wearing clothes dyed with saffron or wars. He said: "Whoever does not have shoes should wear leather socks after cutting them below the ankles."
Hadith 841
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ: أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَمْرَو بْنَ دِينَارٍ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الشَّعْثَاءِ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: "إِذَا لَمْ يَجِدِ الْمُحْرِمُ النَّعْلَيْنِ لَبِسَ خُفَّيْنِ، وَإِذَا لَمْ يَجِدْ إِزَارًا لَبِسَ السَّرَاوِيلَ" .
Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying while delivering a sermon: "When a person in Ihram does not have shoes, he should wear socks, and when he does not find an izar (waist-wrapper), he should wear trousers."
Hadith 842
أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى رَجُلًا [ ص: 207 ] مُحْرِمًا بِحَبْلٍ أَبْرَقَ فَقَالَ: انْزِعِ الْحَبْلَ مَرَّتَيْنِ.
It is narrated from Ibn Jurayj (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saw a man who had tied his Ihram with a colored rope. The Prophet (ﷺ) said twice: "Remove the rope, remove the rope."
Hadith 843
أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ، قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ يَسْأَلُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ فَقَالَ: أُخَالِفُ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْ ثَوْبِي مِنْ وَرَائِي ثُمَّ أَعْقِدُهُ وَأَنَا مُحْرِمٌ. فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ: لَا تَعْقِدْ شَيْئًا.
It is narrated from Muslim bin Jundab, he states that a man came and was asking Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) while I was with them. That man said: In the state of Ihram, can I take both ends of my sheet to the opposite sides behind me and tie a knot on them? Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) replied: You must not tie a knot at all.
Hadith 844
أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ: أَنَّ نَافِعًا أَخْبَرَهُ: أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ لَمْ يَكُنْ عَقَدَ الثَّوْبَ عَلَيْهِ، إِنَّمَا غَرَزَ طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى إِزَارِهِ.
Nafi' narrated that Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) did not tie a knot in the cloth he was wearing, but rather folded both its ends and tucked them inside his izar.
Hadith 845
أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حُجَيْرَةَ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَسْعَى بِالْبَيْتِ وَقَدْ حَزَمَ عَلَى بَطْنِهِ بِثَوْبٍ.
It is narrated from Tawus who states that I saw Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) performing Tawaf of the House of Allah, and he had tied (the Ihram) around his waist with a single cloth.
Hadith 846
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَ: أَبْصَرَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ثَوْبَيْنِ مُضَرَّجَيْنِ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ، فَقَالَ: مَا هَذِهِ الثِّيَابُ؟ فَقَالَ: [ ص: 208 ] عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ: مَا أَخَالُ أَحَدًا يُعَلِّمُنَا السُّنَّةَ، فَسَكَتَ عُمَرُ.
It is narrated from Abu Ja'far that Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) saw Abdullah bin Ja'far wearing two dyed garments while in the state of ihram, so he asked: What are these garments? Ali bin Abu Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I do not consider it necessary for anyone to teach us the Sunnah. At this, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) remained silent.
Hadith 847
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ الَّذِي يُعْرَفُ بِابْنِ عُلَيَّةَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صُهَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى أَنْ يَتَزَعْفَرَ الرَّجُلُ.
It is narrated from Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade any man from using saffron.
Hadith 848
عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ: أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ كَانَ يَكْرَهُ لُبْسَ الْمِنْطَقَةِ لِلْمُحْرِمِ. أَخْرَجَ الثَّمَانِيَةَ الْأَحَادِيثَ مِنْ كِتَابِ الْمَنَاسِكِ، وَالتَّاسِعَ فِي كِتَابِ اخْتِلَافِ مَالِكٍ وَالشَّافِعِيِّ.
It is narrated from Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) that Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) disliked wearing a belt (waistband) for a person in the state of Ihram.
