It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man asked the Prophet (ﷺ): "What clothes should a person in Ihram wear?" The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) replied: "A person in Ihram should not wear a shirt, trousers, turbans, caps, or socks. And if someone does not have shoes, he should cut the socks below the ankles and wear them."

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and asked him: "What clothes should a Muhrim (one in the state of Ihram) wear?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said to him: "A Muhrim should not wear a shirt, nor a turban, nor a cap, nor trousers, nor socks, but whoever does not have sandals may wear socks after cutting them below the ankles."

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade a Muhrim from wearing clothes dyed with saffron or wars. He said: "Whoever does not have shoes should wear leather socks after cutting them below the ankles."

Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying while delivering a sermon: "When a person in Ihram does not have shoes, he should wear socks, and when he does not find an izar (waist-wrapper), he should wear trousers."

It is narrated from Ibn Jurayj (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saw a man who had tied his Ihram with a colored rope. The Prophet (ﷺ) said twice: "Remove the rope, remove the rope."

It is narrated from Muslim bin Jundab, he states that a man came and was asking Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) while I was with them. That man said: In the state of Ihram, can I take both ends of my sheet to the opposite sides behind me and tie a knot on them? Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) replied: You must not tie a knot at all.

Nafi' narrated that Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) did not tie a knot in the cloth he was wearing, but rather folded both its ends and tucked them inside his izar.

It is narrated from Tawus who states that I saw Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) performing Tawaf of the House of Allah, and he had tied (the Ihram) around his waist with a single cloth.

It is narrated from Abu Ja'far that Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) saw Abdullah bin Ja'far wearing two dyed garments while in the state of ihram, so he asked: What are these garments? Ali bin Abu Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I do not consider it necessary for anyone to teach us the Sunnah. At this, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) remained silent.
