Hadith 754
أَخْبَرَنَا الشَّافِعِيُّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَ: قَعَدْنَا إِلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: مَا الْحَاجُّ؟ فَقَالَ: "الشَّعِثُ التَّفِلُ" . فَقَامَ آخَرُ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، مَا السَّبِيلُ؟ قَالَ: "زَادٌ وَرَاحِلَةٌ" . أَخْرَجَهُ مِنْ كِتَابِ الْمَنَاسِكِ.
Muhammad bin ‘Abbad bin Ja‘far narrates that we were sitting with ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) when I heard him say: A man asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Who is the one who has performed Hajj (i.e., what are the signs of one performing Hajj)? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The one with disheveled hair and who keeps away from perfume.” Another man stood up and asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is the means (sabeel)? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Provision for the journey and a riding animal.”
