Hadith 684
أَخْبَرَنَا الشَّافِعِيُّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ وَهُوَ يَسْأَلُ عَنِ الْكَنْزِ، فَقَالَ: هُوَ الْمَالُ الَّذِي لَا تُؤَدُّوا مِنْهُ الزَّكَاةَ.
Abdullah bin Dinar says: I heard Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) being asked about "Kanz" (hoarded wealth), so he replied: It is that wealth on which you do not pay Zakat.
Hadith 685
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ: أَنَّ عُمَرَ كَانَ يَقُولُ: كُلُّ مَالٍ تُؤَدَّى زَكَاتُهُ فَلَيْسَ بِكَنْزٍ وَإِنْ كَانَ مَدْفُونًا، وَكُلُّ مَالٍ لَا تُؤَدَّى زَكَاتُهُ فَهُوَ كَنْزٌ وَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَدْفُونًا. أَخْرَجَ الْحَدِيثَيْنِ مِنْ كِتَابِ الزَّكَاةِ.
It is narrated from Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) that Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to say: Every wealth from which you pay zakat is not a treasure, even if it is buried, and every wealth from which you do not pay zakat is a treasure, even if it is not buried.
