It is narrated from Matlub bin Hantab that when rain would descend, the Prophet ﷺ would supplicate: "O Allah, (send) rain of mercy, not of punishment, nor of trial, nor rain that destroys homes, nor rain that drowns. O Allah, (send rain) on the mountains and in the gardens. O Allah, send rain around us, not upon us."

Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that whenever the Prophet ﷺ saw clouds in the sky, he would leave all work, face the Qiblah, and supplicate: "O Allah! I seek refuge with You from the evil of what is in it." If the clouds dispersed, he would praise Allah, and if it rained, he would say: "O Allah, make this rain beneficial."

It is narrated from Matlub bin Hantab that when there was lightning or thunder in the sky, its effects could be seen on the face of the Prophet ﷺ, and when the rain would fall, the effects (of fear) would disappear.

It is narrated from Urwah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: When any of you sees lightning or rain, he should not point towards it, rather he should abundantly mention its attributes.
