Aswad bin Qais narrates from his father that he said: "Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) heard a traveler saying, 'If today were not Friday, I would have set out on my journey.' So Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'Set out on your journey, for Friday does not prevent a person from traveling.'"

Ismail bin Abdur Rahman bin Abi Dhi'b says: Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) was called for the funeral (prayer) upon the death of Sa'id bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him). At that time, Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) was performing ghusl (ritual bath) for Jumu'ah (Friday prayer). He went for the funeral and left the Jumu'ah.
