Hadith 306
أَخْبَرَنَا الشَّافِعِيُّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكِبَ فَرَسًا فَصُرِعَ عَنْهُ، فَجُحِشَ شِقُّهُ الْأَيْمَنُ، فَصَلَّى صَلَاةً مِنَ الصَّلَوَاتِ وَهُوَ قَاعِدٌ، فَصَلَّيْنَا مَعَهُ قُعُودًا، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ: إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الْإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ، فَإِذَا صَلَّى قَائِمًا فَصَلُّوا قِيَامًا، وَإِذَا رَكَعَ فَارْكَعُوا، وَإِذَا رَفَعَ فَارْفَعُوا، وَإِذَا قَالَ: سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ فَقُولُوا: رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ، وَإِذَا صَلَّى جَالِسًا، فَصَلُّوا جُلُوسًا أَجْمَعِينَ .
It is narrated from Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) mounted a horse and fell from it, injuring his right side. He (ﷺ) led a prayer sitting, so we also prayed sitting behind him. When he (ﷺ) finished, he said: "The Imam is appointed to be followed, so when he prays standing, you should also pray standing, and when he bows, you should also bow, and when he raises his head from bowing, you should also raise your heads, and when he says ﴿Sami' Allahu liman hamidah﴾, you should say ﴿Rabbana wa laka al-hamd﴾, and when he prays sitting, you should all pray sitting."
Hadith 307
أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَسَّانٍ، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا، يَعْنِي: بِمِثْلِهِ.
From another chain of narration, it is also reported from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) in the same manner (as the previous hadith).
Hadith 308
أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا، قَالَتْ: صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَيْتِي وَهُوَ شَاكٍ، فَصَلَّى جَالِسًا، وَصَلَّى خَلْفَهُ قَوْمٌ قِيَامًا، فَأَشَارَ إِلَيْهِمْ أَنِ اجْلِسُوا، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ، قَالَ: "إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الْإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ، فَإِذَا رَكَعَ فَارْكَعُوا، وَإِذَا رَفَعَ فَارْفَعُوا، وَإِذَا صَلَّى جَالِسًا، فَصَلُّوا جُلُوسًا" .
Narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she states: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performed prayer in my house, and he (ﷺ) was ill. He (ﷺ) prayed sitting, and the people behind him prayed standing, so he (ﷺ) gestured to them to sit down. When he (ﷺ) finished the prayer, he said: “The imam is appointed so that he may be followed. When he bows, you should bow; and when he raises his head, you should raise your heads; and when he prays sitting, you should also pray sitting.”
Hadith 309
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ: أَنَّهُمْ خَرَجُوا يُشَيِّعُونَهُ، وَهُوَ مَرِيضٌ، فَصَلَّى جَالِسًا، فَصَلَّوْا خَلْفَهُ جُلُوسًا. أَخْرَجَ الْحَدِيثَيْنِ مِنْ كِتَابِ الْإِمَامَةِ وَالثَّالِثَ فِي كِتَابِ اخْتِلَافِ مَالِكٍ وَالشَّافِعِيِّ، وَالرَّابِعَ مِنْ كِتَابِ اخْتِلَافِ الْحَدِيثِ.
It is narrated from Abu Zubair that he reports from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that they went out while Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) was bidding them farewell as he was ill. Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) led the prayer sitting, so they also prayed sitting behind him.
