Abdullah bin Ubaidullah bin Abi Mulaykah narrates that he, Ubaid bin Umair, Miswar bin Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with them both), and many other people would come to Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) from the upper part of the valley. Aisha’s freed slave, Abu Amr, would lead them in prayer. At that time, Abu Amr was still her slave and had not yet been freed. And it was said: He (Abu Amr) was the imam of the sons of Muhammad bin Abi Bakr and Urwah.

Nafi’ (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that the iqamah was pronounced in a mosque near Madinah, and Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had land near that mosque in which he used to farm, and the imam of that mosque was a freed slave of Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). That freed slave and his companions resided there. Nafi’ says: When Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) heard their (adhan and iqamah), he came to pray with them. The freed slave of that mosque said to Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him): “Come, lead us in prayer.” ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: “You have more right to lead the prayer in your mosque.” Then the freed slave led the prayer.
