It is narrated from Mihjan (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was sitting with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) when the call to prayer was given. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stood up and performed the prayer, while Mihjan remained seated in his place. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) asked him: "Why did you not pray with us? Are you not a Muslim?" Mihjan replied: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)! I am a Muslim, but I had already performed the prayer at home." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) then said: "When you come (to the mosque), pray with the people, even if you have already performed the prayer."

It is narrated from Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) that Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: Whoever has performed the Maghrib and Fajr prayers, and then joins these prayers with the Imam as well, he should by no means repeat them.
