Hadith 257
أَخْبَرَنَا الشَّافِعِيُّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: [ ص: 285 ] يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، كَيْفَ نُصَلِّي عَلَيْكَ؟ يَعْنِي: فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ: "تَقُولُونَ اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَبَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ثُمَّ تُسَلِّمُونَ عَلَيَّ" .
It is narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he asked: O Messenger of Allah! How should we send blessings upon you in prayer? The Prophet ﷺ replied: "Say: O Allah! Send mercy upon Muhammad ﷺ and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent mercy upon Ibrahim (peace be upon him), and send blessings upon Muhammad ﷺ and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim (peace be upon him). Then send peace upon me."
Hadith 258
أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي سَعْدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ: "اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ، كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَآلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَبَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَآلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، إِنَّكَ حُمَيْدٌ مَجِيدٌ" . أَخْرَجَ الْحَدِيثَيْنِ مِنْ كِتَابِ اسْتِقْبَالِ الْقِبْلَةِ.
It is narrated from Ka'b bin 'Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to recite in prayer: "O Allah! Send mercy upon Muhammad (ﷺ) and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent mercy upon Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and upon the family of Ibrahim, and send blessings upon Muhammad (ﷺ) and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and upon the family of Ibrahim. Surely, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious."
