Hadith 224
أَخْبَرَنَا الشَّافِعِيُّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ سُحَيْمٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: "إِنِّي نُهِيتُ أَنْ أَقْرَأَ رَاكِعًا أَوْ سَاجِدًا، فَأَمَّا الرُّكُوعُ فَعَظِّمُوا فِيهِ الرَّبَّ، وَأَمَّا السُّجُودُ فَاجْتَهِدُوا فِيهِ مِنَ الدُّعَاءِ فَقَمِنٌ أَنْ يُسْتَجَابَ لَكُمْ" .
It is narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been forbidden from reciting the Qur'an while in the state of bowing and prostration. Therefore, glorify the greatness of your Lord in bowing, and strive and seek in supplication during prostration. For it is more likely that (your supplication) will be accepted."
Hadith 225
حَدَّثَنَا الْأَصَمُّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا الرَّبِيعُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا الْبُوَيْطِيُّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا الشَّافِعِيُّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، وَابْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ سُحَيْمٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: أَلَا إِنِّي نُهِيتُ أَنْ أَقْرَأَ رَاكِعًا أَوْ سَاجِدًا فَأَمَّا الرُّكُوعُ فَعَظِّمُوا فِيهِ الرَّبَّ، وَأَمَّا السُّجُودُ فَاجْتَهِدُوا فِيهِ، قَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا: مِنَ الدُّعَاءِ، وَقَالَ الْآخَرُ: فَاجْتَهِدُوا فَإِنَّهُ قَمِنٌ أَنْ يُسْتَجَابَ لَكُمْ . أَخْرَجَ الْحَدِيثَيْنِ مِنْ كِتَابِ اسْتِقْبَالِ الْقِبْلَةِ.
It is narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he reports from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "Beware! I have been forbidden from reciting the Qur'an while in the state of bowing and prostration. In bowing, glorify the greatness of your Lord, and in prostration, make abundant supplication, for your supplication is more worthy of being accepted."
