Hadith 176
أَخْبَرَنَا الشَّافِعِيُّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ: أَنَّ مُشْرِكِي قُرَيْشٍ حِينَ أَتَوُا الْمَدِينَةَ فِي فَدْيِ أَسْرَاهُمْ كَانُوا يَبِيتُونَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ مِنْهُمْ جُبَيْرُ بْنُ مُطْعِمٍ، قَالَ جُبَيْرٌ: فَكُنْتُ أَسْمَعُ قِرَاءَةَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. أَخْرَجَهُ مِنْ كِتَابِ الْوُضُوءِ.
It is narrated from Uthman bin Abi Sulaiman that when the polytheists of Quraysh came to Madinah to pay ransom for the captives of Badr, they used to spend the night in the mosque. Among them was Jubair bin Mut'im as well. Jubair (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I used to listen to the recitation of the Prophet ﷺ.
