Ziyad bin Alaqah narrates from his uncle, he says: I heard the Prophet ﷺ reciting «وَالنَّخْلَبَاسِقَاتٍ» in the morning prayer. Imam Shafi’i, may Allah have mercy on him, says: That is, he used to recite Surah Qaf.

It is narrated from Amr bin Huraith (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) reciting «وَاللَّيْلِإِذَاعَسْعَسَ» in the Fajr prayer. Imam Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) says: That is, in the Fajr prayer, he would recite «إِذَاالشَّمْسُكُوِّرَتْ» (Surah At-Takweer).

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Sa’ib (may Allah be pleased with him), he states: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) led us in the morning prayer in Makkah. He began reciting Surah Al-Mu’minun, and when he reached the mention of Musa and Harun (peace be upon them), or the mention of Isa (peace be upon him), the Prophet (ﷺ) started coughing, so he left the recitation and went into bowing (ruku’). The narrator says that Abdullah bin Sa’ib (may Allah be pleased with him) was present in that prayer.

Urwah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) recited the entire Surah Al-Baqarah in both units of the morning prayer.

Abdullah bin Amir says: We offered the morning prayer behind Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him). In the first rak'ah, he recited Surah Yusuf, and in the second, Surah Al-Hajj, and he recited slowly and gently. The narrator says: I said, "By Allah, then he must have performed that prayer at the time of sunrise." So Abdullah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Yes."
