Urwah bin Zubair (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: I went to Marwan bin Hakam and we discussed what things make ablution (wudu) necessary. Marwan said: Touching the private part makes ablution necessary. Urwah said: I do not know about this. Marwan said: Basrah bint Safwan (may Allah be pleased with her) informed me that she heard the Prophet ﷺ saying: "When any one of you touches his private part, he should perform ablution."

It is narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he reports from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "When any one of you touches his private part with his hand while there is nothing (such as cloth, etc.) in between, then he should perform ablution."

Muhammad bin Abdur Rahman bin Thawban reports that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "When any one of you touches his private part, he should perform ablution."
