وَأَخْبَرَنَا مُسْلِمٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ قَيْسِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ زَادَ أَحَدُهُمَا عَلَى الْآخَرِ وَاجْتَمَعَا فِي الْمَعْنَى: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: كَانَ أَهْلُ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ يَدْفَعُونَ مِنْ عَرَفَةَ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَغِيبَ الشَّمْسُ وَمِنَ الْمُزْدَلِفَةِ بَعْدَ أَنْ تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ، وَيَقُولُونَ: أَبْرِقْ ثُبَيْرُ كَيْمَا نُغِيرُ فَأَخَّرَ اللَّهُ هَذِهِ وَقَدَّمَ هَذِهِ، يَعْنِي قَدَّمَ الْمُزْدَلِفَةَ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ وَأَخَّرَ عَرَفَةَ إِلَى أَنْ تَغِيبَ الشَّمْسُ . أَخْرَجَ الْحَدِيثَيْنِ مِنْ كِتَابِ الْحَجِّ مِنَ الْأَمَالِي، وَالثَّالِثَ سَنَدًا بِلَا مَتْنٍ، وَالرَّابِعَ مِنْ كِتَابِ مُخْتَصَرِ الْحَجِّ الْكَبِيرِ.
It is narrated from Muhammad bin Qais bin Makhramah that the Prophet ﷺ said: "In the days of ignorance, people would return from Arafah before the sun set and from Muzdalifah after the sun had risen, and they would say: 'O Thabir, shine so we may return.' Allah has postponed one and advanced the other; that is, He made Muzdalifah earlier, up to before sunrise, and Arafah later, up to sunset."
