قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ فِي كِتَابِهِ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ مَيْمُونٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، يَعْنِي أَنَّهُ أَمَرَ بِإِفْرَادِ الْحَجِّ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَكُونَ لِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا شَعَثٌ وَسَفَرٌ وَهُمْ يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّ الْقِرَانَ أَفْضَلُ، وَبِهِ يُفْتُونَ مَنِ اسْتَفْتَاهُمْ، وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ كَانَ يَكْرَهُ الْقِرَانَ.
Aswad reports from Abdullah (that is, Abdullah bin Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him) that he gave the ruling for Hajj Ifrad. He said: I said, they have preferred that each of the two should have a state of dishevelment and travel, and their opinion is that Hajj Qiran is superior. When someone asks them for a legal verdict, they give that verdict, whereas Abdullah himself disliked Hajj Qiran.
