أَخْبَرَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي ذُبَابٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي ذُبَابٍ، قَالَ: قَدِمْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَسْلَمْتُ، ثُمَّ قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، اجْعَلْ لِقَوْمِي مَا أَسْلَمُوا عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَمْوَالِهُمْ فَفَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَاسْتَعْمَلَنِي عَلَيْهِمْ، ثُمَّ اسْتَعْمَلَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ، ثُمَّ عُمَرُ. قَالَ: وَكَانَ سَعْدٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ السَّرَاةِ قَالَ: فَكَلَّمْتُ قَوْمِي فِي الْعَسَلِ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: زَكَاةٌ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا خَيْرَ فِي ثَمَرَةٍ لَا تُزَكَّى. فَقَالُوا: كَمْ؟ قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ: الْعُشْرُ. فَأَخَذْتُ مِنْهُمُ الْعُشْرَ فَأَتَيْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ مَا كَانَ فَقَبَضَهُ عُمَرُ فَبَاعَهُ، ثُمَّ جَعَلَ ثَمَنَهُ فِي صَدَقَاتِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ.
Sa’d bin Abi Dhibab narrates that I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and accepted Islam. Then I said: O Messenger of Allah! Due to my people accepting Islam, appoint someone to collect zakat from their wealth. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) did so and appointed me as their collector. Then Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) also appointed me as a collector, and then Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) did the same. The narrator says that Sa’d was among the respected ones. Sa’d says: I spoke to my people about honey and told them: There is zakat in it, because wealth from which zakat is not given has no blessing in it. They asked: How much is it? Sa’d says: I said: One-tenth. Sa’d says: I took one-tenth from them and brought it to Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) and informed him, so Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted it, sold it, and deposited its price among the charities of the Muslims.
