أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي يَزِيدَ، يَقُولُ: دَعَا أَبِي عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ فَأَتَاهُ وَجَلَسَ وَوُضِعَ الطَّعَامُ، فَمَدَّ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ يَدَهُ، وَقَالَ: خُذُوا بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، وَقَبَضَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يَدَهُ، وَقَالَ: إِنِّي صَائِمٌ.
Abdullah bin Abi Yazid (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that my father invited Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). He came and sat down, and the food was served. Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) extended his hand and said: "Take (eat) in the name of Allah," and then Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) withdrew his hand and said: "I am fasting."
