It is narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set out in the year of the conquest of Makkah during Ramadan. He (peace be upon him) observed the fast until he reached the place of "Kuraid," whereupon he broke his fast, and the people also broke their fast along with him. It was the habit of the noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) to adopt every new practice of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
