It is narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: On the way to Makkah, people were overtaken by wind, and Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was going for Hajj. The wind became strong, so Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked those around him: Has any command regarding the wind reached you (from the Prophet ﷺ)? The people did not give any answer. Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I came to know about what Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had asked regarding the wind. I hurried my camel until I reached Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), even though I was at the end of the people. I said: O Commander of the Faithful! I have learned that you inquired about the wind. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "The wind is by the command of Allah; it brings both mercy and punishment. Do not speak ill of it. Ask Allah for the good that is in it, and seek refuge with Allah from the evil that is in it."
