It is narrated from Abu Ubaid, the freed slave of Ibn Azhar, who says: I went to the Eid prayer ground with Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) to perform the Eid prayer. He led the prayer and then addressed the people, saying: "Today, two Eids have come together for you, and whoever among the inhabitants of the surrounding settlements of Madinah wishes to wait for Jumu'ah may do so, and whoever wishes to return may go; I have given permission."
