Hadith 498

أَخْبَرَنَا الشَّافِعِيُّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي لَيْثٌ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا خَطَبَ يَعْتَمِدُ عَلَى عَنَزَتِهِ اعْتِمَادًا.
It is narrated from Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) delivered a sermon, he would stand leaning firmly on a spear.
