أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ ضَمْرَةَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْمَازِنِيِّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ سَأَلَ أَبَا وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيَّ مَاذَا كَانَ يَقْرَأُ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي صَلَاةِ الْأَضْحَى وَالْفِطْرِ؟ فَقَالَ: كَانَ يَقْرَأُ بِ ق وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ، وَ اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ. أَخْرَجَ الْأَوَّلَ مِنْ كِتَابِ الْعِيدَيْنِ، وَالثَّانِيَ فِي كِتَابِ اخْتِلَافِ مَالِكٍ وَالشَّافِعِيِّ.
It is narrated from Ubaydullah bin Abdullah (may Allah have mercy on him) that Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) asked Abu Waqid Al-Laithi (may Allah be pleased with him): "What would the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) recite in the prayers of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr?" He replied: "He (ﷺ) would recite: 'Qaf, by the Glorious Qur'an' (__QUR_N__) and 'The Hour has drawn near' (__QUR_N__).”
