أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي دَاوُدُ بْنُ الْحُصَيْنِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْخَطْمِيِّ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبَا بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ، كَانُوا يَبْدَءُونَ بِالصَّلَاةِ قَبْلَ الْخُطْبَةِ حَتَّى قَدِمَ مُعَاوِيَةُ، فَقَدَّمَ مُعَاوِيَةُ الْخُطْبَةَ.
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Yazid Khatmi (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman (may Allah be pleased with them) used to perform the Eid prayer before the sermon, until the era of Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) came, and Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) delivered the sermon first.
