أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ السَّخْتِيَانِيِّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَطَاءَ بْنَ رَبَاحٍ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ: أَشْهَدُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ صَلَّى قَبْلَ الْخُطْبَةِ يَوْمَ الْعِيدِ، ثُمَّ خَطَبَ فَرَأَى أَنَّهُ لَمْ يُسْمِعِ النِّسَاءَ فَأَتَاهُنَّ فَذَكَّرَهُنَّ وَوَعَظَهُنَّ، وَأَمَرَهُنَّ بِالصَّدَقَةِ، وَمَعَهُ بِلَالٌ قَائِلٌ بِثَوْبِهِ هَكَذَا، فَجَعَلَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ تُلْقِي الْخُرْصَ وَالشَّيْءَ.
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that I bear witness that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the Eid prayer before the sermon. Then he addressed the people with a sermon. He thought that perhaps the women had not heard the voice, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to them, preached and advised them, and instructed them to give charity. Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) was with him, holding out his garment in this manner (i.e., saying, "Put in it"), so the women gave their earrings and other items (such as rings, etc.) in charity.
