Hadith 382

It is narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he spent a night at the house of the purified wife of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his maternal aunt, Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her). He said: I lay down across the pillow, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his wife lay down lengthwise. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ slept until, when half the night had passed or a little before or a little after, he woke up and began to wipe sleep from his face with his hands. Then he recited the last ten verses of Surah Al-Imran. Then he went to a water skin hanging (on a peg) and performed ablution from it thoroughly. Then he stood up and began to pray. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I also stood up and did as the Prophet ﷺ had done. Then I stood on his (left) side. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed his right hand on my head and took hold of my right ear and twisted it. He prayed two rak‘ahs, then again two rak‘ahs, then again two rak‘ahs, then again two rak‘ahs, then again two rak‘ahs, then he prayed Witr and lay down. Until the muezzin came, then he got up and prayed two light rak‘ahs, then went out and led the morning prayer.
