Hadith 268

It is narrated from the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), that she stated: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would finish the prayer with salam, the women would stand up as soon as the salam was completed, and the Prophet ﷺ would remain seated in his place for a short while. Ibn Shihab said: We think that he ﷺ did so for this reason—and full knowledge is with Allah alone—so that the women could leave, and the men would not reach them after finishing the prayer.
