Hadith 209

أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ وَعُثْمَانُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ يَفْتَتِحُونَ الْقِرَاءَةَ بِـ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ [الْفَاتِحَةِ: 2] . أَخْرَجَ السِّتَّةَ الْأَحَادِيثَ مِنْ كِتَابِ اسْتِقْبَالِ الْقِبْلَةِ.
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) who states that the Prophet (peace be upon him), Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman (may Allah be pleased with them) used to begin the recitation with "Alhamdu lillahi Rabbil 'alamin."
